The LSI Logic MegaRAID 9260-8i 8-Port SAS RAID Controller has 512MB DDRII cache and is compatible with Linux. It comes with both full height and low profile brackets and is a true hardware RAID card that supports RAID 5 and 6. However, there are some issues with customer service and warranty. The card runs very hot and can be noisy, especially when an alarm goes off due to a failed drive. The alarm cannot be disabled, which can be bothersome. The card is also expensive but does seem to be worth the cost, as it performs well and is easy to configure.
