Zoom Portable Recorders F6 Editorial Review
The Zoom F6 is a versatile and reliable multi-track recorder that is highly recommended for live mixing and protected against clipping with 32-bit audio. It can record up to 15 and a half hours on a 256GB SD card, with a minimum SD card class of 4 for most recordings. It can be used as an audio interface for livestreaming, but the 32-bit float recording and dual A-to-D converters are not available when used with a PC. The F6 can deliver phantom power to each input individually and provides headphone monitoring for input signals. The Zoom F6 can power in a multitude of ways and is durable and rugged. It uses external timecode devices like the Deity TC1. The device's 32-bit recording is not turned on by default and future-proofs the device in case more inputs are required. The headphone jack is not the loudest, and some reviews have cited issues with noisy inputs that may be due to wiring with the headphone jack. Overall, this is a great recorder for those who want great sound quality in their shoots, with options for various external and internal power supply sources.
